<p>Transdermal drug applicator comprises reservoirs (R) contg. the drug (I), battery (B) for supplying a charge for (I), its side facing the (R), a cover (C) of electrically conductive material partially enclosing the (B) and (R) but leaving the side of (R) opposite that of (B) exposed to contact the skin and an electrical connection between (C) and (B). The cover has a lip which contacts skin when mounted on it thus fully enclosing (R) and (B) and an electrically conductive adhesive material coating on the underside of the lip. When the applicator is adhered to and mounted on the skin, a complete electrical circuit through the skin is formed and (I) migrates out of (R) and through the skin into the blood stream due to electrophoresis or electro-osmosis. An applicator for electrophoresis admin. of (I) in ionic soln. or suspension through the skin as described above is also claimed.</p> |
