Arranged displaceably within a cylinder (1) is a piston. Two arms (3) project from one end of the cylinder. At its free end, each arm bears an inward-projecting strip (4). A first die part (14) is attached to the piston. A second die part (15) interacting with the first die part is attached releasably to a yoke (2). A pressure fluid can be admitted through an opening into the cylinder bounded by the piston and a bottom plate, with the result that the first die part (14) is pressed against the second die part (15) by the piston. The yoke is connected to the free ends of the arms by way of slots in the yoke (2) which accommodate the said strips (4). The said slots are bounded by lateral flanges (17, 18) of the yoke. The outer flanges (17) are wedge-shaped and are complementary to the shape of the upper part of the said strips (4). The other flanges (18) are of complementary design to the underside (4c) of the strips. The wedging effect to which this gives rise limits the extent to which the yoke can be pushed onto the cylinder. This design makes possible a compact construction and hence allows the device to be used even where space is restricted. <IMAGE> |
