In a model device for the preparation of a dental attachment by metal casting, an attachment part (female) retained on the pillar crown is used, and on to this a counterpiece (male) 3 releasably connected with the prosthesis 6 can be pushed vertically with sliding fit. A conical peg 36 for accommodation of a corresponding, conical, slotted guide sleeve 41 which is cast-on with a space-retaining duplicating sleeve by the duplicating method, is provided on this counterpiece 3. The appropriate duplicating method is used to put the space-retaining duplicating sleeve on to the conical peg 36 of the counterpiece 3 inserted in the attachment part retained on the pillar crown, and the sleeve is coated with wax in order to form the investment material model. After formation of the latter model the plastic jacket and a retention of the duplicating sleeve are combusted during the subsequent drying and curing of the model. This is followed by filling the investment material model with metal, the inner guide sleeve 41 joining up with the metal of the prosthesis 6 and at the same time forming the receptacle for the conical peg 36 of the counterpiece 3. <IMAGE>
