PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity, image coloring density etc. and to prevent the dye loss in the stage of using an exhausted bleaching (fixing) bath by incorporating a specific phenolic cyan coupler having an excellent spectral absorption characteristic into a photosensitive emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:The photographic cyan coupler expressed by formula I (R<1> is the group enough to provide nondiffusing to a coupler, R<2> is alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl, aryl; R<3> is halogen; Z is H, the group which can be eliminated in the stage of coupling reaction with the resultant product of oxidation of a color developing agent) is incorporated into the photosensitive emulsion layer, by which the intended silver halide color photosensitive material is obtd. The embodiment of the cyan coupler expressed by formula I is exemplified by the compd. expressed by formula II, etc. and for example, the compd. expressed by formula II is synthesized by bringing the 2-(3-chloro-4 ethane sulfonyl) phenyl ureide-5-nitrophenol expressed by formula III into reaction with the compd. expressed by formula IV after the reduction thereof. |
