<p>The vehicle door lock comprising a latch mounted on a vehicle and having a release lever (26) operable to release the latch. A locking lever (40) has a lock position in which release of the latch is prevented and an unlock position in which release is enabled. - A handle is mounted on the door remote from the latch and manually operable for releasing, locking and unlocking the latch. - The handle is connected to the latch by a single push/pull control cable. The handle is operable to pull the inner cable relative to its sheath from an unlock position to a release position or to push the inner cable relative to its sheath from the unlock position to a lock position.
