<p>A polymer in the form of particles which is insoluble in water and suspendable in water which contains carboxyl or carboxylate groups is described. It has an absorption capacity of 40 to 90 grams of physiological saline per gram of polymer, a physiological saline absorption ratio of at least 8 ml per 0.3 grams of polymer, a gel resistance of 33 to 200 g/cm2 when it is suspended up to saturation with ion exchange water. Useful as an absorbent in a hygiene article.</p> |
