PURPOSE:To retard decrease in electrolyte to prevent early drop of battery capacity by covering the inner and outer surfaces of a glass container and a glass cover with shock resistant synthetic resin. CONSTITUTION:Inner and outer covering layer 2 and 2' having shock resistant property are formed on the inner and outer surfaces of a glass container 1 to form a battery container 3. The inner and outer surfaces of a cover made of glass are covered with shock resistant resin. An electrode group 4 comprising cathode plates 5, anode plates 6, and glass fiber separators 7 is impregnated with electrolyte and accommodated into the container 3, and the container 3 is sealed with the cover. By using the container 3 and the cover, penetration of moisture from the container 3 and the cover is retarded or prevented. Thereby, early performance drop of the battery caused by decrease in electrolyte is prevented. |
