Process for the prepn. of C5+ hydrocarbons from C4= hydrocarbons, characterised in the C4- hydrocarbons are converted at a pressure higher than 10 bar by reforming in the presence of carbon dioxide and steam into a mixt. of carbon monoxide and hydrogen having a hydrogen to carbon monoxide molar ratio of 0.25-2.25 by using a carbon dioxide/hydrocarbon ratio (a) 0.1-10 g mo. carbon dioxide per g atom carbon, a steam/hydrocarbon ratio (b) of 0.1-1 g mol. steam per g atom carbon and such a carbon dioxide/ steam ratio that (2a+3b) is at least 3, that the mixt. of carbon dioxide and hydrogen thus prepd. is converted into a mixt. of hydrocarbons substantially consisting of C5+ hydrocarbons by contacting it at an elevated temp. and a pressure corresponding with that used in the reforming with a cobalt catalyst comprising 3-60 pbw of cobalt and 0.1-100 pbw of at least one of zirconium, titanium or chromium per 100 pbw of silica, alumina or silica-alumina, which catalyst has been prepd. by kneading and/or impregnation, and that when the hydrogen/carbon monoxide mixt. has a molar ratio lower than 1.5, the cobalt catalyst is used in a catalyst combination which has carbon monoxide shift activity.
|
