Gas filter cartridge having a pleated filter medium includes an inner pleated wire frame for supporting the filter medium internally and an outer wire stay arranged at the inner apex of each filter medium pleat so as to support the filter medium externally. The ends of the filter medium, frame and wire stays are sealed into end caps. The stays are formed by inwardly curved wires and the ends thereof are hooked to fasten the stays to the support frame.
