PURPOSE:To obtain a serial printer of a simple structure capable of a multi- color printing at low cost by providing a ribbon color setter and a ribbon color comparator for the printer. CONSTITUTION:A serial printer capable of a multi-color printing by mutually exchanging ink ribbons of different colors is provided with ribbon color setters (switches) 161-163 to designate the color of the ink ribbons, a ribbon color comparator 15 to compare color codes designated by the setters 161-163 with designated color codes possessed by letter data input from outside, and a means (CPU)1 to allow the printing of the letter data only when both the designated colors coincide with each other. |
