PURPOSE:To prevent on-off timing for an exhaust valve and a starting air valve from overlapping in a simple manner, by setting up a solenoid valve, operating opening or closing the starting air valve in interlock with an engine speed angle detector, in the starting air valve which feeds the inside of a combustion chamber with starting air in time of engine starting. CONSTITUTION:In time of engine starting, a starting air valve 2 feeds the inside of a combustion chamber 1 with starting air A. In this case, an engine speed angle detector 8 is installed in a crankshaft 9, while a control unit 10, which judges on-off timing for the starting air valve 2 according to a signal out of this detector 8, is installed in addition. And such control that prevents the timing of opening an exhaust valve from that of closing the starting air valve 2 is carried out. With this constitution, not only starting characteristics in a Diesel engine is improved but also air consumption is reduced. |
