<p>PURPOSE:To obtain the element for the data tablet which provides uniform magnetostrictive wave generation and no attenuation of a magnetostrictive wave, generates an invariably constant lengthwise detection signal with an equal-pitch detection coil, and has superior corrosion resistance by using an alloy made principally of an amorphous phase as the element. CONSTITUTION:The data tablet uses the alloy made principally of the amorphous phase as the data tablet. The data tablet element should be large in magnetostriction as the 1st condition, so the alloy in use is preferably Fe-base amorphous alloy. The level of a magnetostrictive signal and characteristics of an amorphous thin bar have correlation in the square ratio of a signal output and the thin bar and the square ratio is preferably <=60%. For alloy composition with a <=60% square ratio, Co is preferably added and there is the advantage of extremely small attenuation of the magnetostrictive wave after stress relief annealing. The amorphous forming element of this element is preferably P or C, and the amounts of P and C which need to be added for amorphous formation without any deterioration in characteristics are 9-16atom% P and 2-10atom% C respectively.</p> |
