A completely polymerised polypropylene contains a minor amount (0.05-5 wt.%) of maleic anhydride and of an aromatic cpd. (0.2-10%) with a tert. benzylic H-atom (I) melt-compounded therewith. Cpd. (I) is of formula: Ar-CH(R11)R1 and is pref. polystyrene, cumene, m-diisopropylbenzene, 1,1-diphenylethane (where Ar is an aromatic residue; R1 is an aliphatic residue; R11 is an aromatic or aliphatic residue). The compsn. is used in mfre. of films, fibres, mouldings at a high cold-drawing rate. |
