The invention relates to a gripper for screwed pipe joints which is to be used for screwing pipes and has a gripper body (4), an opening flap (6) which can be locked and unlocked with the gripper body, and a screwing device which has clamping members for the pipes. The gripper body (4) and the opening flap (6) have two axially spaced screwing devices (34, 34'). The screwing devices can be braced separately with the pipes, locked separately with the gripper body, and displaced separately by rotation. This construction allows the screwing and unscrewing of the pipes to be performed in a simpler, quicker and more reliable fashion. <IMAGE>
