PURPOSE:To make easily the structure of intermetallic compound of Zr-Al alloy amorphous, by heating said compound in electric furnace of atmosphere contg. gaseous H2 to occlude H2 therein. CONSTITUTION:A crystal 1 of intermetallic compound such as Zr3Al, Zr2Al is put in an electric furnace 3 providing a heater 2, and heated to 470-873 deg.K by the heater 2 while allowing gas contg. H2 such as gaseous mixture of H2 and Ar to flow. Gaseous H2 in said mixture is occluded into the crystal 1, said crystals are made finely due to chemical reaction with H2, and finally to amorphous structure. Thick amorphous product and product made partially to amorphous state which are not obtd. by conventional ultrarapid cooling method, vapor depositing method can be manufactured.
