PURPOSE:To improve a two step discharge voltage characteristic by using a positive electrode prepared by heat-processing a molding mainly comprising iron disulfide in a hydrogen stream or sulfur vapor to form a iron sulfide layer on the surface of the molding. CONSTITUTION:Graphite serving as conductor and fluorine resin powder serving as binder are added to iron disulfide, and they are mixed, then press-molded. The molding is accommodated in a reaction tube inside which is kept in reduced pressure, and heated to form iron sulfide layer on the surface of the molding. This molding is used as a positive electrode 1. A negative electrode 2 prepared by punching a rolled lithium plate is pressed against the inner bottom of a negative can 4, whose periphery is covered with an insulating gasket 3, through a negative current collector 5. A separator 6b impregnated with an electrolyte prepared by dissolving lithium fluoroborate in a mixed solvent of propylene carbonate and 1, 2 dimethoxethane, and the positive electrode 1 are placed on the negative electrode 2, and a positive can having a positive current collector 7 on its inner bottom surface is covered thereon, then the opening of the positive can is crimped toward the insulating gasket 3 to seal a battery. |
