PURPOSE:To improve the slidability of a base body on a recording medium by using B4C or TiN ceramic which has such heat conductivity that the binder in a recording medium is not softened when the base body slides on the recording medium for the surface of the base body which faces the recording medium. CONSTITUTION:Two base bodies 1 are arranged in opposition to each other across a shield plate 3, and plural magnetic head elements constituted by laminating a lower magnetic pole, gap material, interlayer insulating film, conductor coil, upper magnetic pole, etc., are formed on the two base bodies 1. In this case, the medium-opposing surface A of the base body 1 which face the recording medium is formed of B4C or TiN ceramic which has such heat conductivity that the binder of the recording medium is not softened when the base body slides on the recording medium, obtaining the desired thin-film magnetic head. Consequently, heat generated by the sliding on the recording medium is absorbed by the B4C or TiN ceramic to evade the softening of the binder. |
