PURPOSE:To continue the operation of a motor by controlling by other chopper which is not defective even if a plurality of choppers of a polyphase chopper become defective. CONSTITUTION:When switching means III of chopper V is shortcircuited to be defective, interrupting means VII for interrupting a current flowed to the chopper V, and defect circuit detecting means VIII for detecting the defective chopper when the chopper V becomes defective to interrupt the current are provided. N-phase control means VI notifies l pieces of defective choppers V (l<=n-2) by the means VIII, the switching command signal of (n-l) phase is output to the switching means III of (n-l) of choppers V except the defective choppers V to continue the operation of a DC shunt motor. |
