PURPOSE:To provide the titled composition having excellent flame-retardance, forming a heat-resistant heat-insulation crust layer in fire hazard without generating smoke nor toxic gas, and suitable as a sheath material, etc., by compounding a polyolefin with specific amounts of aluminum hydroxide and/or magnesium hydroxide and a silica-containing fibrous substance. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be prepared by compounding 100pts.(wt.) of a polyolefin and/or olefin copolymer with (A) an alkaline earth metal hydroxide and/or aluminum hydroxide and (B) 3-60pts. of a silica- containing fibrous substance preferably having a diameter of <=20mu an a length of <=1,000mu (e.g. asbestos) and further (C) 1-5pts. of an organic peroxide (e.g. di-alpha-cumyl peroxide), and crosslinking the mixture. |
