Method making it possible to communicate, by any means customarily used for communicating an acoustic message, this acoustic message and a secondary message and making it possible for the addressee to simultaneously and distinctly perceive these two messages without corrupting perception of the acoustic message. The secondary message is put in the form of a succession of symbols which can be restored to a non-auditory sensible form. The width of the passband of the secondary signal is less than 2% of the width of the passband of the main signal. The main signal and the secondary signal are juxtaposed for transmission or recording. Application to techniques for communicating acoustic messages such as telephony, radiotelephony, radio broadcasting, recording on magnetic tape, mechanical disk, and optical disk.
