Clamping holder for cutting inserts

The invention relates to a clamping holder for cutting inserts for machining especially hard metallic materials by boring by means of a boring bar or boring head and turning. The aim of the invention is to use a clamping holder for this which permits safe and reliable clamping of cylindrical and plate-shaped cutting inserts, has high rigidity and can be manufactured economically. The object is to create a clamping holder in which the cutting insert can be safely clamped by producing high surface pressure forces. The solution provides for the basic holder of the clamping holder to have a recess which is made at an angle alpha in an axial bore of the basic holder. A cylindrical clamping wedge with a flattened slope which has the same angle alpha is arranged in the axial bore in such a way that the flattened slope faces the recess in parallel. A headless setscrew in a tapped hole of the basic holder acts axially on this clamping wedge. The clamping holder serves to clamp cylindrical and plate-shaped cutting inserts for machining hard metallic materials. <IMAGE>
