PURPOSE:To improve the resistance of martensitic stainless steel to weld crack, stress corrosion cracking and unstability rupture and the fatigue strength by heating the weld zone of the steel and a region close to the weld zone under specified conditions when the steel is heat treated after arc welding. CONSTITUTION:Martensitic stainless steel as a base metal is arc welded with a welding electrode of similar composition and heat treated. During the heat treatment after the arc welding, the weld zone of the steel and a region close to the weld zone are heated so as to give 18,000-22,000 Larson-Miller parameter P represented by the equation [where T is the heating temp. ( deg.C), and t is the holding time (hr)]. |
