A method of producing PVC foam wall covering consisting of plastic layers with textile backing uses a temporary carrier consisting of releasable paper in the process. The plastic (laminate) layer is first separated from the paper taking care that no longitudinal tension is introduced in the layer. After this, the adhesive-coated textile layer is applied to the side from which the paper has been removed. From the moment the paper is removed to the application of the textile, the layer preferably rests on an area of a rotating perforated cylinder under which a vacuum is maintained.
