<p>Prepn. comprises reacting salicylazobenzoic acid (opt. acetylated) with an equal amt. of suitable (in)organic base. The reaction takes place in an aq. medium, under reflux and the formed salt is sepd. by salting or mixing the obtd. aq. soln. with a miscible organic solvent. R1 is an (in)organic cation.
