PURPOSE:The title resin which has electric charges in a nonaqueous solvent, is excellent in dispersibility, charge control, fixation, etc., and is useful for electrostatic photography developers, paints, printing inks, etc., prepared by polymerizing a system comprising specified monomers A and B in a specified organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous resin prepared by polymerizing a system compris ing monomer A of formula I [wherein R is H or CH3, X is a group of formula II or III (wherein n is 6-20)], e.g., dodecyl methacrylate, and monomer B of formula IV (wherein R is H or CH3, n is 1-20, M is H, Na, K, Mg, Mn, Ca, Li, Al or Co), e.g., a compound of formula, V in the presence of a polymeriza tion initiator (e.g., azobisisobutyronitrile) in an aliphatic hydrocarbon solvent (e.g., kerosene or isooctane). this resin has electric charges in a nonaqueous solvent, is excellent in dispersibility of a pigment or the like and is excellent in charge control and fixation as a electrophotographic toner, paint or printing ink. |
