In a rotary crusher, functioning as a continuous crusher or transfer-type crusher, for comminuting minerals in large lumps such as for example coal, stone, iron ore, salt, potash and the like, the crushing roller whose rotary energy is increased by flywheels or pulleys arranged outside the crushing space is formed from an outer and an inner rotary body with a common axis of rotation which can be displaced rotationally independently of one another, the two rotary bodies being driven using the overrun method or contra-rotating method by at least one drive whose rpm can preferably be controlled in an infinitely adjustable fashion so that the crushing method is extended by virtue of the variety of minerals which can be used thanks to the greater number of different comminution processes accompanied by undershot and overshot mode of operation, in that an economical standardised system is provided which requires little space and ensures precomminution and postcomminution with an optimum final granular size and high throughput, and additionally permits the degree of comminution to be influenced by controlling the movement conditions in order to produce the required grade of grain.
