In order to guarantee the exact fault-free drive of a large number of yarn guides moving to and fro by means of a common sliding rod, the sliding rod consists of profiled rods (24) coupled to one another and made of fibres reinforced with synthetic resin, for example carbon fibres with epoxy resin. The profile of the profiled rods (24) is multi-winged, the arms (24a, b, c) preferably having an arcuate shape. Formed between the wings are chambers (29), into which the guide elements (38) can be inserted, which guide elements, with stationary friction partners (35), form plain or rolling bearings. The holders (46) of the yarn-guide elements (17) are likewise inserted into the chambers (29) and are fastened, for example, by clamping means (51). <IMAGE>
