According to the process of the invention, the fine-decomposition salt is separated, using n-alkylamine salts as conditioning agents and buoyant liquors containing magnesium chloride and potassium chloride, in a first flotation stage into a particle fraction of < 0.1 mm as a first preconcentrate and a residue having a particle size of > 0.315 mm, which after renewed conditioning is flotated once more, when the potassium chloride floats up as a second preconcentrate, whereupon the mixture of the two preconcentrates is subjected to a secondary flotation without further conditioning, in which the potassium chloride is floated out and collected.
