PURPOSE:To obtain a piston suffering from very small bending deflection and lateral strain, according to a method wherein a piston pin for connecting a piston to a connecting rod in an internal-combustion engine is made of ceramics and a surface layer of proper thickness made of metal is formed on the surface of pin. CONSTITUTION:A piston pin 1 made of ceramics is designed in such a manner that its diameter D' is smaller than the bore d of piston pin holes 4, 5 by an appropriate amount of dimension with regard to a piston 2 and a connecting rod 3. Subsequently, a metallic surface layer 6 of proper thickness T is formed on the surface of piston pin 1 made of ceramics. Then, the outer diameter thereof is set to an external diameter D'' larger than the bore 4 of piston pin holes 4, 5 as shown by two-dotted chain line. Further, the external diameter D'' of metallic surface layer 6 is finished in a dimension D as shown by solid line, so that it can neatly fitted in piston pin holes 4, 5. |
