A tap chuck has a hollow housing part (2), radially movable clamping bodies (11, 12) inside the housing part, a nut (3) which can be screwed onto the housing part, and a tapered body (5) having a tapered surface (6) for axially supporting a nut flange projecting to the inside. In order to create a tap chuck in which parts can be used which are of relatively simple design and are therefore inexpensive to manufacture, the tapered body has an internal taper, is of cylindrical design on its outer periphery and is axially displaceable inside the housing part. The clamping bodies are designed as clamping balls which are arranged in two ball rims arranged at an axial distance (a) from one another. The clamping balls are accommodated in a cage body (8) in a radially movable manner (Fig. 1). <IMAGE>
