An apparatus for cutting foodstuffs, especially meat into slices, is provided with a feeding device which is movable in the cutting cycle to feed the material (5) to be cut, with a discharging device (2) and with a cutting knife (3) which is arranged between the feeding device and the discharging device (2) and rotates about an axis which is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the feeding device. The feeding device has a conveyor belt (1) which is provided with friction-augmenting supports (4) and, as an endless belt which is deflected by means of deflection rollers (6, 7), is kept continuously circulating in time with the cutting cycle. The supports may take the form of cams, knobs, pins, studs and the like (4) arranged on the surface of the conveyor belt (1). <IMAGE>
