1355513 Herbicidal application of isothiazole derivatives MAY & BAKER Ltd 30 March 1972 [7 April 1971] 9019/71 Heading A5E [Also in Division C2] The growth of weeds at a locus is controlled by applying to the locus a herbicidal composition containing at least one isothiazolen derivative of the formula I:- wherein R<SP>1</SP> is a C 1-3 alkyl group and either (1) R<SP>2</SP> is a (C 1-5 alkoxy) carbonyl group, R<SP>3</SP> is a hydrogen atom and R<SP>4</SP> is a C 1-5 alkyl, C 2-5 alkenyl or cyclopropyl group, or (2) R<SP>2</SP> is a cyano group and R<SP>3</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> are methyl or ethyl groups, or when R<SP>2</SP> is a cyano group, salts thereof with an alkali metal or a strong organic base. The composition may comprise the active ingredient in association with a diluent or carrier and it may also contain other pesticidally-active compounds, e.g. phenoxyalkanoic acids, benzoic acid derivatives, halogenated aliphatic acids, carbamates, thiocarbamates, amides, urea derivatives, diazines, triazines, substituted phenols, quaternary ammonium derivatives, benzonitrile derivatives, triazole derivatives, thiocarbonyl derivatives and benzene sulphonyl carbamates, several compounds of each type being specified, and 4-chloro-2- oxobenzothiazolin-3-ylacetic acid, 2-t-butyl-4- (2,4 - dichloro - 5 - isopropoxyphenyl) - 5 - oxo - 1,3,4 - oxadiazole and 2,6 - dinitro - N, N - dipropyl - 4 - trifluoromethylaniline, naphth - 1 - yl - N - methyl carbamate, 2,6 - dimethyl - 4 - tridecylmorpholine, methyl - N - (1 - butylcarbamoyl - benzimidozole - 2 - yl) carbamate and 1,2 - bis(3 - methoxy carbonyl- 2-thioureido/benezene. |
