DETECTION OF PROTEIN OR NUCLEIC ACID WITH HIGH SENSITIVITY

PURPOSE:To detect a trace of a vital component such as protein or nucleic acid separated by electrophoresis in a supporting body by forming a dye simultaneously with metal dyeing. CONSTITUTION:A water soluble metallic salt and a compd. which provides a detectable species by oxidation reaction with the water soluble metallic salt are brought into reaction on the protein or nucleic acid in the supporting body separated by an electrophoresis method, by which the detectable material is formed. The dyeing density of the protein and nucleic acid separated by the electrophoresis is increased, by which the dyeing with high sensitivit is made possible. The preferable example of the water soluble metallic salt is enumerated by silver nitrate and ammonia silvsr nitrate and the preferable example as the detectable species is a dye. The material which itself shows a color change and forms the dye when subjected to the oxidation reaction is exemplified by amino and/or hydroxy substd. aryl compd. part.
