A die and method for cold drawing of metal wire, the die having a substantially circular passage extending throughout its length and tapering from an inlet to an outlet, there being at least three spaced apart grooves extending spirally about the passage and intervened by an arcuate surface of the passage. The grooves are of substantially the same cross section at the inlet and outlet ends of the die.
