1. A method of trading securities over a computer network comprising the steps:
(a) receiving an axe for a security from a first user in one or more computer processors and storing the axe in one or more computer databases; (b) receiving an indication to take a certain direction in a trade for the security by a second user in one or more computer processors and storing the indication in one or more memory locations or one or more computer databases; (c) querying the one or more databases storing the axe of the first user to determine if the axe of the first user is in an opposite direction of the direction in the trade indicated by the second user; (d) transmitting a trade inquiry to the first user via a network only if the axe of the first user is in the opposite direction of the direction in the trade indicated by the second user; (e) receiving a response to the trade inquiry from the first user in the one or more computer processors; and (f) processing with the one or more computer processors a trade between the first user and the second user for the security through a central intermediary party.
