<p>The reference standard comprises a number of coloured reference areas of differing hues corresp. to discrete reference values. A response area of colourmetric test device is compared with the reference values to determine the value most closely related to the hue of the response area. - A background area is provided against which the coloured reference areas are displayed, and has a luminance value of between 15 and 80. The luminance value of any portion of the background area is within a predetermined value of the average luminance value of any two or more adjacent coloured reference areas. The predetermined value may e.g. be 30,20 or 10.</p> |
