1,4:3,6-Dianhydro-hexitol derivs. of formula (I), in which R1 is H, 2-5C acyl, pyridyl-carbonyl or nitro, and R2 is 1,4-dihydro pyridinyl-carbonyl are made by reacting of an aldehyde of formula (II) with an amino-carboxylate ester of formula (III) and with a beta-keto carboxylic acid ester of 1,4:3,6-dianhydro hexitol of formula (IV), to give the acyl deriv.
