摘要 Polyurethane elastomers, density 0.4-1g./cc., compression set below 5% and recovery time 10-600 milliseconds, esp. contg. lightweight filler and being the reaction prod. of (A) a cpd. contg. min. 4 urethane-forming reactive sites and capable of forming stable complexes through unreacted urethane-forming sites; (B) an elasticising diol or triol; and (C) a diisocyanate in less than stoichiometric amts. Polyurethane elastomers are prepd. by (i) mixing 1 pt. cpds. (A), 1-3 pts. cpds. (B), 0.2-2 pts. filler as above and 0-0.5 pt. (D); (ii) adding (C) in wt. ratio 1:8.5-11 with total other components; (iii) forming urethane linkages on less than 80% reactive sites of (A); and (iv) stabilising the remaining reactive sites by formation of complexes such that the cured prod. has density 0.4-1 g./cc., compression set below 5 %, recovery time 10-100 millisecs. - The elastomers have rapid recovery time and are appropriate for absorbing energy applied in cycles of short duration, such as walking and running, and are used as shock absorbing elements in footwear (esp. as insoles) and in industrial applications. They are also useful in sound damping.
