The invention relates to the chairs generally used on pavements outside cafes. The <<pavement chair>>, designed to tilt backwards, makes it possible for the user to stretch out better. It comprises a V-shaped base, very widely open so that two positions of use are possible: one approximately vertical, the other tilted towards the back. It comprises a seat which can be removed from the frame of the chair, which seat is equipped with two axes of rotation. The axis A1 makes it possible to lift the seat by pressing it against the rear part, thus immediately making the pavement chair <<stackable>> and <<nestable>>. The axis A2 makes it possible, during use, to place the seat in the position which ensures optimum comfort. The axis A2 also makes it possible, when the chair is not in use, to place the seat in a vertical position so that the underside of the seat becomes useable as an advertising support. <IMAGE>
