Section girder, in particular consisting of sheet metal, for a fire-resistant false ceiling. The section girder exhibits a cavity, formed by webs (11 and 12) and a base (13), in which a filling (18) consisting of set and hardened gypsum is arranged. In the event of fire, the gypsum disintegrates by the action of heat and, in the case of an endothermic reaction, gives off water of crystallisation and cools the walls of the section girder (10) and, as a result, prevents heat transfer from the upper side (O) to the underside (U) of the false ceiling, or vice versa, for a sufficient length of time. <IMAGE>
