PURPOSE:To obtain the titled powder having oxidation stability for a long time even at high temp. and humidity and suitable especially for magnetic recording by sticking a dicarboxylic acid having an alkyl group to the surface of magnetic metallic powder. CONSTITUTION:A dicarboxylic acid having an alkyl group such as malonic acid is stuck to the surface of magnetic metallic powder such as Fe-Co alloy powder by 0.5-5wt% of the amount of the powder to obtain magnetic metallic powder having superior oxidation stability and shelf stability and undergoing no deterioration in the magnetic characteristics with the lapse of time. Said dicarboxylic acid has preferably an about 3-7C alkyl group, and the preferred total number of carbon atoms in the acid is about 20-30. |
