A cargo restraining device for a palletized load including a platform (16) for receiving a pallet with a load of cargo (10) thereon, and a vertical frame (28) at one end of the platform. A handle (34) is pivotally secured to the frame (28) and connected to a horizontally extending member (50) which is movable to place it in frictional contact with a floor or supporting surface. To lock the pallet and platform to the floor (101), the handle is pushed downwardly while at the same time pushing the vertical frame (28) toward the load. Movement of the handle which pivots about a hinge (42) pivotally connected to the frame, moves the horizontally-extending member (50) into contact with the supporting surface (101) and at the same time lifts and tilts the platform (16), which adds an augmented downward force on the horizontally-extending member (150) in contact with the supporting surface. |
