The invention relates to an automatic speed variator which comprises a mechanical complex arranged inside a casing, assisted by a hydraulic assembly mounted either inside or outside this casing and composed of a cylinder 30 in which a piston 31 moves positioned by an adjusting rod 33, a helical spring 32 and capable, according to its position in the cylinder 30, of regulating the flow rate of a fluid upon which the speed variations depend which may exist between the inlet shaft 2 and the outlet shaft 7, whilst allowing the other components of the variator to operate normally whatever the speed variations achieved. <IMAGE>
