<p>A low-weight eccentric worm for an eccentric worm pump is produced more cheaply and with the same dimensional accuracy as worms, machined from the solid, or produced by spiralling a thermoplastic rod, yet it can be produced from more wear resisting mixes. This has been achieved by producing the worm as a casting from a casting type of resin, reinforced by wear and chemicals resisting fillers such as quartz, silicon carbide, corundum or their mixt. The filler is heated before the casting operation which is pref. in several layers in moulds with a gradually increasing dia. Specifically, a steel core is embedded in the casting resin.</p> |
