A light fitting with a light source for an optical display is proposed, having on a pot-shaped housing a coaxially protruding connector pin. An electroluminescent panel is provided in the housing transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the connector pin. On this electroluminescent panel there are approximately circularly positioned electroluminescent parts arranged in such a way as to produce a bright/dark/bright light ring characteristic when the light fitting is switched on.
