An arrangement having a conductor layer (W), which is produced using thick-film or thin-film technology, on an insulating substrate (S), for example on ceramic or glass, at least one groove (R) being incorporated laterally along at least one edge of one or more conductor tracks (L), which are formed from the conductor layer (W), in the substrate (S) such that at least one side wall of the groove (R) is adjacent to the relevant edge of the conductor track (L) over a length which is a multiple of the conductor-track width (d), the substrate (S) consisting of a substrate material which can vaporise when a laser is fired at it such that it is free of electrically conductive residues, and the groove (R) being made in the substrate (S) by vaporisation using a laser beam. <IMAGE>
