ROTATION DETECTOR FOR ROTARY VANE COMPRESSOR

PURPOSE:To protect engine from damage by connecting an electrode fixed to the front sideboard while insulating at the position corresponding with the vane endface not to project into the inner space of cylinder to rotation detecting circuit thereby detecting the abnormality and interrupting power supply. CONSTITUTION:An electrode 10 is fixed to the front sideboard and arranged at the position corresponding with the endface 4a of vane projecting into the inner space of cylinder 1 while having a micro gap not to project into the inner space of cylinder 1 to be connected to a rotation detecting circuit. A pulse waveform is formed from a rolling stock engine 25 through a shaping circuit 26 and fed together with a waveform produced through rotation of compressor to a comparator 27. Here, both waveforms are compared and upon occurrence of abnormality in the compressor to produce phase difference larger than setting level or differential rotation higher than setting level, a relay 28 is functioned to interupt additional current to an electromagnetic coil 11 thus to stop the compressor. Since abnormal load is not applied, the engine can be protected from damage.
