PURPOSE:To raise the contrast to enhance the separation tone expressing capacity by providing an illuminating system which illuminates a TN liquid crystal shutter, where plural transparent electrodes corresponding to picture elements are formed, from an angular range corresponding to the visual angle characteristic. CONSTITUTION:A TN liquid crystal shutter 10 is irradiated through a semicylindrical lens 31 by a spot light source 30. A shielding plate 32 extending in the direction orthogonal to the optical axis is provided under the lens 31 to intercept an about half of the light. The light which is not itercepted reaches the TN liquid crystal shutter 10 and is made incident at an angle theta or less on open picture element forming parts 14. The angle theta is varied slightly in accordance with the state and is about 10 deg.. The light passing the parts 14 obliquely passes lenses, for example, graded fiber arrays 33 arranged in accordance with individual picture element forming parts 14 and is focused on a photosensitive matrial 34. At a recording time, the photosensitive material 34 is moved interruptedly in the direction orthogonal to picture element forming parts 14 by a stepping motor and is developed. Thus, the contrast is raised and the noise is reduced to a half to improve the separation tone expressed capacity. |
