<p>A steering-wheel carrying shaft is held in a support attached to the vehicle. A universal joint connects the steering column to a steering member of a steering box. A flexible coupling is located between the universal joint and the steering wheel, formed by an elastically deformable disc (15) and two drive members (14,17) connected to the disc faces. - One element is attached to a shaft (18) joined rigidly to a universal joint fork and the other is rigidly joined to the steering wheel shaft. The first shaft is supported rotatably and slidably by the second shaft at at least one point (20,21) outside the plane of the deformable disc. This keeps the shafts coaxial under all operating conditions, whilst allowing relative rotation and axial displacement. (4/7)</p> |
