The carrier strip (124) is disposed in a housing (52) and has contact areas for receiving the wires of a multiconductor electrical cable and for allowing the attachment of at least on set of input and/or output wires to it. The logic package (100) is disposed in the housing adjacent the carrier strip, active electronic components being disposed in the logic package. - The electronic components are in electrical contact (102) with the contact area of the carrier strip and thus in electrical communication with the electrical cable. The components have at least one set of input and/or output signal terminals which are in contact with the input and/or output wires so facilitating electrical signal processing and/or communication.
